YOUNGSTOWN — A Mahoning County grand jury indicted a teenager in an armed robbery at a Cornersburg drugstore and a 24-year-old man on charges of receiving guns stolen from a Boardman gun shop.
Airik Talbott, 18, of Meghan Circle, was indicted Thursday on an aggravated robbery charge with a firearm specification in the Jan. 16 robbery of Family Discount Drugs, 3307 Canfield Road. Talbott, who was 17 at the time of the robbery, was bound over from juvenile court for trial as an adult.
The other suspect in that crime, Jeffrey D. Caulton, 18, of Norwood Avenue, was indicted in February on the same charge in that robbery, in which police said more than 1,600 OxyContin pills and other narcotics and $350 in cash were taken.
In July, Judge Maureen A. Sweeney of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court sent Caulton to prison for nine years for this robbery and other crimes.
The grand jury also indicted Andre Whitlor, 24, of Dickson Street, on two counts of receiving stolen property between May 14 and May 31 in reference to two handguns stolen from Miller Rod & Gun in Boardman.
Earlier this month, the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives offered a reward of up to $10,000 for the arrest and conviction of those responsible for a series of burglaries, in which 70 firearms were taken from three local gun stores in May, including 4 a.m. burglaries at Miller Rod & Gun on May 14 and 20.
