Church dignitary visits the area

YOUNGSTOWN — An international church dignitary is visiting the greater Youngstown area now through Sept. 21.

The Rev. Alfredo Abad Heras, the general secretary of the Iglesia Evangélica Española (Spanish Evangelical Church) whose office is in Madrid, Spain, is visiting as an international peacemaker through the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) at the invitation of Eastminster Presbytery.

The Rev. Mr. Abad’s travels in the United States will include not only the Youngstown area, but Louisville, Ky., Sacramento, Calif., and Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minn.

While in the Youngstown area, Mr. Abad will preach at the Wickliffe Presbyterian Church in Austintown, serve at the Protestant Family Services spaghetti dinner, address classes on the campuses of Youngstown State University and Hiram College, serve a meal at Rescue Ministries and speak at the vespers service at Copeland Oaks Retirement Community in Sebring.

The International Peacemakers Program of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) provides opportunities for international church leaders to come to the United States in order to promote mutual understanding from a global perspective.
