Mom allowed unlicensed boy to drive, police say

YOUNGSTOWN — The 52-year-old mother of a boy who has no driver’s license was charged with permitting him to drive. Police stopped Patricia Riley’s son around 11 a.m. Friday on West Dewey Avenue after the officers heard a loud muffler. In lieu of taking the Lee Street boy, no age given, to the Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Justice Center, police issued him a juvenile court summons charging him with no driver’s license, loud muffler and no seat belt. The car was towed for safekeeping. When the mother arrived she was given a citation charging her with permitting an unlicensed driver to drive. The boy was released to her custody.
