Hutchinson’s late goal lifts Canfield to tie with Poland
CANFIELD — Tim Hutchinson scored on a 30-yard kick in the final minute Thursday to lift the Canfield High boys soccer team into a 1-1 tie against Poland.
Poland sophomore Ryan Storkel scored on a penalty kick with 14 minutes to go.
Poland junior goalkeeper Andrew McElroy made nine saves while Canfield (3-2-2) senior goalkeeper Eric Clayton stopped four shots.
Poland is 4-1-1, 3-0-1 Metro Athletic Conference.

NILES — Howland’s Eric Albani scored off an assist from Ryan Gerin with 10:30 remaining in the first half and Dan Miller made one save to lead the Tigers (4-0-4, 3-0-1 MAC).
J.J. Crowley made three saves for Niles (4-3-0, 2-2-0).

AUSTINTOWN — Brian Remias and Nick Bowlen scored for the Falcons (2-4). Goalkeeper Jason Haseley made eight saves.
For the Irish (3-3-3), goalkeeper John Collas scored on a penalty kick. He also made nine saves.

STRUTHERS — Matt McWilson scored two goals for the unbeaten Cardinals (7-0, 1-0 Steel Valley Conference).
Tim Beck, Scott Blasko, Rob Fox and Kori Ryhal scored goals. Ryhal also had an assist. James Simon made two assists.
Raiders goalkeeper Ryan Burk made 20 saves.

HARTVILLE — Justin Storm and Kyle Knepper scored a goal apiece for Heartland Christian (9-1). Treg Lunger made an assist.
Goalkeeper Aaron Shields made 23 saves for Heartland Christian, which made 23 shots on goal. Lake Center made 20.

HOWLAND — Anna Wall scored the only goal on an assist from Jessica Wilson early in the second half for the Tigers (4-0-3, 3-0 MAC).
It was a rematch of the 2006 district championship game which was won, 1-0, by the Tigers in a penalty kick shootout.
The Tigers made five shots on goal compared to one for the Bulldogs (2-1-2, 1-1-1).
Goalkeeper Casey Haering made one save for the Tigers. Erin Eckman made four saves for the Bulldogs.

BELOIT — Taylor Kring scored two goals and Karen Steiger and Caitlin King one apiece for the Warriors.

WARREN — Rachel Lamarco scored two goals while Jessica Yuricek and Deanna Kuzenko made one apiece for the Raiders (6-0-1).
Elena Ware earned an assist and goalkeeper Avrielle Merten made 11 saves.
For the Tigers (4-1-1), Allyson Berry and Katie Bretz scored goals. Breanne Mincher earned an assist on Bretz’s goal. Goalkeeper Heather Cozak made 20 saves.

AUSTINTOWN — Kara Cooper made three goals and Kristi Cooper one to lead Youngstown Christian (6-0-1) at Highway Tabernacle.
Goalkeeper Kaitlyn Vestal made 16 saves.
Badger (4-3-1) was led by Shawna McNeely and Taylor Phillips with one goal apiece.
Goalkeepers Katy Dvorak and Kelsey Flowers combined for 19 saves for the Braves.
