Poland student hearing set for tonight

POLAND — The case of a high school student suspended after being accused of drinking during a band night last month is the subject of a school board meeting today.

The board’s special meeting is set for 6 p.m.

Rebekah Morse of Lowellville said that her daughter’s case will be discussed at the meeting behind closed doors.

Morse’s daughter, Brittany Gamble, 16, was suspended from school for five days and from athletic activities for a year by school administrators. The teenager is accused of drinking during an Aug. 28 band night.

Paperwork submitted to court by the school district says that this is Brittany’s second offense within a calendar year of violating the school’s athletic participation policy .The first, which Superintendent Dr. Robert Zorn wouldn’t discuss, occurred Oct. 18, according to the papers submitted.
