September 1955: Graduated first class from the new TMH School of Nursing.

September 1956: Completed $500,000 student nurses home.

March 1962: School of nursing dropped its affiliation with Youngstown State University and affiliated with Kent State University.

June 1965: Spent $7 million on expansion.

January 1967: Increased room rates to $28 for ward beds, $33 for semiprivate and $38 to $40 for private beds.

September 1974: The Ohio Public Employees District Council 78 of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees filed a petition with the National Labor Relations Board to organize employees.

August 1979: Service employees ended a brief strike by accepting a new three-year contract.

December 1981: W.B. Gibson Co. won contract for a $35 million expansion.

July 1982: Twenty-week strike began. It ended in December 1982. The strike involved confrontations between pickets and police and a work stoppage on the expansion project.

November 1985: Began three-year phaseout of the TMH School of Nursing.

January 1996: Began construction of $2.4 million surgical center.

May 1997: Merged with Western Reserve Care System.

July 2002: Opened new cardiac center.

2007: Named among the nation’s top 17 heart hospitals in a federal government study, and as one of the nation’s top hospitals for cardiac care.
