Motorcyclist in critical condition after crash

SALEM — The unidentified male driver of a motorcycle was in critical condition at St. Elizabeth Health Center on Wednesday afternoon after he was hit by a car. The accident happened earlier in the day at state Route 9 and Conser Drive.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said the victim was northbound on Route 9 when a car, driven by a 38-year-old Salem man, turned right from Conser north onto Route 9 and struck him.

The victim was transported to the hospital by helicopter. The driver of the vehicle was not reported injured. The crash is under investigation.
