Man arrested after admitting he shot someone
YOUNGSTOWN — A 56-year-old Penn Avenue man was arrested on a felonious assault charge after telling police he shot Terry Marlowe, 43, of McGuffey Road around 10:40 p.m. Wednesday, reports show.
Marlowe was in critical condition at St. Elizabeth Health Center today. He was hit three times, twice in the back and once in a leg.
Kenneth D. Berch told police that an argument started at his home when Marlowe refused to share his crack cocaine.
Berch said he became angry and tried to hit Marlowe with a golf club and then grabbed a machete when Marlowe took control of the golf club.
Berch said he grabbed a gun and fired three times after being pushed by Marlowe, reports show. Marlowe ran out and fell to the grass and Berch put the handgun in a dresser drawer, police said. Officers confiscated the gun and the machete.
