XGIRARD — Bonnie Jean Bodnar and Henry Joseph Gomez were married Aug. 4 by the Rev. Ronald Maurer during a 1:30 p.m. ceremony at First Christian Church.
The bride is a daughter of Laura Bodnar of Youngstown and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bodnar of Austintown. Lisa and Henry Gomez of Boardman are the parents of the groom.
The bride wore a strapless A-line gown of ivory satin with hand-beaded bodice featuring a corset back and a chapel train.
In mocha-colored gowns were matron of honor Sonia Alfeld and bridesmaids Desiree Gomez, the groom’s sister; Danyell Kasten, the bride’s sister; and Angela Ferenchak, Lynn Meshula and Katie Wingard.
Mya Kasten and Anna Burr, her niece and cousin, respectively, were flower girls, as was Angelina Panno, cousin of the groom.
Brandon Farragher was best man, with the bride’s brothers, Robert Jr. and Josh Bodnar, the groom’s cousin, John Kandry, and Michael Cina and Matthew Vansuch as groomsmen. Bill Gray, also his cousin, and Will Barron, cousin of the bride, were ushers.
A reception at St. Lucy Banquet Center in Campbell followed.
The couple honeymooned at Niagara Falls, Canada, and live in Lakewood.
Mrs. Bodnar-Gomez is a substitute teacher in suburban Cleveland. She graduated magna cum laude from Youngstown State University with her bachelor’s degree and earned her master’s degree at Kent State University. Mr. Gomez, also a magna cum laude graduate of YSU, is a staff reporter for The Plain Dealer in Cleveland.
