Pregnant robber sent to prison

WARREN — A 21-year-old woman with addresses on Dunstan Drive in Warren and Clingan Drive in Poland has been sentenced to four years in prison for robbing three people at knife point.

Michelle Walp, who was pregnant at the time of the crimes, accepted a plea agreement Monday in the courtroom of Judge Peter Kontos in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court.

Bazetta police Chief Charles Sayers said Walp carried a gasoline can when she approached two women in the parking lot of the Perkins Family Restaurant on Elm Road on April 2 and begged them for a ride.

While the women drove her around some parking lots, looking for her car, Walp robbed the women with a knife, getting $15, Sayers said. They drove back to Perkins, where she got into a car and fled.

She was also convicted of robbing a man at knife point in Warren in April after giving him a ride.

Walp gave birth June 27.
