MLB ROUNDUP Tuesday’s other games
AMERICAN LEAGUE
Red Sox 16, Devil Rays 10
BOSTON — Mike Lowell had four hits and Kevin Youkilis hit a bases-loaded triple during a six-run sixth inning as Boston came back from a seven-run deficit to beat Tampa Bay. The Red Sox fell behind 8-1 in the fourth after Tim Wakefield was tagged by a team he has dominated throughout his career. But Boston scored four in the fourth, three in the fifth, six in the sixth and two more in the seventh — on solo homers by David Ortiz and J.D. Drew. Rookies Jacoby Ellsbury and Dustin Pedroia also homered for Boston. Bryan Corey (1-0) tossed a scoreless inning to earn the win in Boston’s biggest comeback victory since 2000.
Yankees 8, Blue Jays 2
TORONTO — Jason Giambi hit a grand slam, Jorge Posada added a solo homer and New York won its sixth straight. New York (82-62) has won 10 of its last 13 to move a season-high 20 games over .500. Giambi, who was 2-for-27 over his past 10 games, went 1-for-3. The grand slam was his first of the season and 12th of his career. Phil Hughes (3-3) allowed two runs — one earned — and three hits in six innings to win for the first time since Aug. 10.
Rangers 13, Tigers 6, 1st game
Tigers 4, Rangers 1, 2nd game
DETROIT — Rookie Jair Jurrjens allowed one run over five innings to lead the Tigers to the split of the day-night doubleheader. Marlon Byrd hit two of the Rangers’ seven homers in their 13-6 win in the opener. Jurrjens (2-1) was activated from the disabled list on Tuesday after having shoulder problems. The second-game loss ended Texas’ season-best winning streak at six games, but they have still won 13 of 16.
Angels 10, Orioles 5
BALTIMORE — Vladimir Guerrero returned from a four-game absence and hit two home runs to lead Los Angeles. He had been out because of an inflamed right triceps. The Angels lost center fielder Gary Matthews Jr. to a sprained right ankle. X-rays were negative, and the team said he will miss at least the next five games. Chone Figgins doubled twice and drove in three runs as the Angels won their fifth straight road game. Guerrero hit a two-run drive to cap a five-run third inning and added a two-run shot in the seventh. It was his 33rd career multihomer game and fourth this season. He needs one more homer to reach 25 for a 10th consecutive year. Joe Saunders (8-3) gave up four runs and 10 hits in five-plus innings. Kevin Millar went 3-for-4 with a homer and two RBIs for the Orioles, who have lost 17 of 20. Baltimore (61-82) is assured of its 10th consecutive losing season. Victor Santos (0-1), making his Baltimore debut, allowed five runs and seven hits in 22⁄3 innings.

Cardinals right fielder Rick Ankiel let a fly ball drop for a double, then let another deflect off the heel of his glove for a two-run error during Cincinnati’s six-run third inning. Dunn, who hit a solo homer in his first at-bat, hit his seventh career slam off Mulder (0-2) during the 10-batter inning. Ankiel went 0-for-4 is hitless in his last 17 at-bats.
