Lamancusa takes over as new treasurer

WARREN — Sam C. Lamancusa, office manager at the Trumbull County treasurer’s office since 2001, is the new county treasurer.

The Trumbull County Democratic Party Central Committee met Tuesday at DiVieste’s Banquet Hall and elected him “by acclamation,” meaning that no vote was necessary because no one ran against him, said Christ Michelakis, who retired from the job Aug. 28.

Michelakis, who is also county Democratic Party chairman, served as treasurer for eight years. Lamancusa will complete Michelakis’ current term, which ends in September 2009.

Kelly Pallante, Trumbull County Board of Elections director, said the next election for treasurer will be for a four-year term and will be held in November 2008.

The treasurer’s job pays $66,415 annually.

Lamancusa, 50, is a 1975 graduate of Ursuline High School and attended Youngstown State University and Hiram College.

He was Girard city auditor from October 1993 to February 2001. He is married to Michelakis’ niece and has two children.
