Austintown aims to control flooding problem

AUSTINTOWN — A project designed to control flooding around Ayrshire and Edinburg drives should begin sometime in October, said township Administrator Mike Dockry.

Township trustees awarded the contract for the project Monday to Foust Construction, of Girard, for $260,084, Dockry said.

It should take about six months to complete, he estimated.

Dockry said Foust will install bigger pipes for the water that floods the area during heavy rains. The pipe system will take the water to Woodside Lake between New Road and Kirk Road, he said.

The money for the project is largely from a state grant, he said. The township will pay for 16 percent of it.
