Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley distributes 20,000 pounds of food a day to 170 hunger relief programs in Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana counties.Fast facts about the agency:

It feeds 7,400 people each week.

The number of elderly poor visiting tri-county food pantries increased by 9 percent in 2006.

It distributed 5 million pounds of food in 2006.

Its biggest food donation needs are canned vegetables, tuna fish, canned meats, instant mashed potatoes and boxed stuffing.

Thirty-nine percent of emergency food recipient households have at least one adult working full time.
