EVENTS Remembrance

Americans are marking the sixth anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks in New York and Washington, D.C., today, and are remembering Flight 93. Local observances for Patriot Day, which are open to the public, include the following.

IN CANFIELD

What: Participants — Cardinal Joint Fire District, Austintown Fire Department, Youngstown Police Department, Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office Fraternal Order of Police No. 141 Honor Guards, Mahoning County Fire Chiefs, Sen. John Boccieri and pipe and drum corps.

When: 7 p.m. today.

Where: Canfield Village Green.

Details: The sixth annual event involves fire, police and emergency personnel.

IN BOARDMAN

What: Disciples Christian Church.

When: 6:30 p.m. today.

Where: At the church, 565 Boardman-Canfield Road, Boardman.

Details: The service will include video clips, prayer and lighting of remembrance candles.

IN YOUNGSTOWN

What: St. Columba Cathedral.

When: 12:10 Mass today.

Where: At the cathedral, 159 W. Rayen Ave., Youngstown.

Details: The tragedy will be remembered during the Mass and in petitions.
