Benefit dinner planned Sept. 23

YOUNGSTOWN —  Two years ago, area resident Lorrie Starr’s life changed dramatically, when she was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, a progressive and debilitating lung disease that renders healthy lung tissue into non-functioning scar tissue. Now the formerly active 50-year-old wife, mother and grandmother faces not only mounting health burdens, but financial ones as well.

To assist with current and future medical and other expenses, which eventually will include a bi-lateral lung transplant, Starr’s family and friends will hold a benefit dinner Sept. 23 at The ITAM Centre, 115 S. Meridian Road.

The event will be held from noon to 5 p.m. and will include a bake sale, a cash drawing, Chinese auction and other entertainment.

Tickets are $7 for adults and $3 for children 6 to 10 and free to children under 6. Tickets will be available at the door or in advance by calling Catherine Starr, (330) 519-1030, or Jamie Butcher, (330) 797-9746.

Monetary donations also are being accepted on Starr’s behalf. Contributions may be made payable to Lorraine Starr Transplant Fund and sent to Mrs. Butcher at 3967 Edinburgh Drive, Youngstown, OH 44511.
