Since opening in Youngstown in September 1991, the nonprofit program has been set up to provide a safe haven for women and children while they try to escape an abusive environment. In addition to providing food and lodging, Sojourner House:
Offers crisis intervention, counseling, advocacy and shelter to victims of domestic violence in Mahoning County.
Gives clients opportunities to initiate solutions to their problems.
Helps them make positive changes in their lives.
Operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Provides short-term refuge to allow battered women to examine their options without fear or pressure.
Accepts donations.
