Warren man held in homicide
WARREN — A 22-year-old Warren man was to be arraigned today on a murder charge stemming from a shooting outside a city bar.
Police said they arrested Mario Q. Sellers about 9 p.m. Saturday with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force at the AmericasBest Value Inn on Mahoning Avenue Northwest.
When asked how Sellers was found, police said only that they were given some information that he was at the inn.
Police charged Sellers in the July 29 killing of Joseph D. Daniel, 33, of Palmyra Road Southwest in Warren.
Daniel was shot several times in front of witnesses after leaving Benji Brown’s Bar and Grill on North Park Avenue Northwest on Warren’s North Side, police said.
Police haven’t disclosed the motive for the slaying.
Sellers was being held in the Trumbull County Jail pending his arraignment in Warren Municipal Court.
Sellers was the second murder suspect arrested in Warren by city police and the U.S. marshals task force Saturday.
Vincent Smith of Warren was arrested at 11 a.m. outside his Edgewood Northeast home. Smith is accused of killing a man in Euless, Texas, in 1993.
Smith is in the county jail pending extradition to Texas to face the murder charge.
