Warren man arrested on murder warrant

YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO

WARREN — A Warren man, Vincent Smith of Edgewood Northeast, was arrested Saturday on a murder warrant from Euless, Texas, by U.S. marshals with the help of Warren police.

The murder occurred in 1993 in Texas and the charges were filed Wednesday. Euless police requested help from the U.S. marshals in locating and arresting Smith, according to a U.S. marshal’s press release.

Smith was observed standing outside his residence about 11 a.m. and was arrested a few minutes later by members of the U.S. Marshals Service Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force.

Warren police assisted in the arrest and with controlling members of Smith’s family who were upset because of the arrest.

According to U.S. marshals, Smith has an extensive criminal history, including arrests involving drug trafficking, carrying a concealed weapon, felonious assault and assault on a police officer.

He was most recently released from prison in July after serving a sentence from a drug conviction. Smith is being held in Trumbull County Jail pending extradition to Texas, the marshals release said.
