Shively 50th is celebrated with luncheon
XPOLAND — Celebrated Sept. 8 during a luncheon at Johnny’s Restaurant in Boardman was the 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Merle W. Shively, 42-1 E. Western Reserve Road.
Invitations for the event were extended by their children, Debbie and Michael Gleydura of Poland, David and Karen Shively of Canfield and Michael Shively of Parma Heights. There are four grandchildren in the family, Matthew and Sarah Gleydura and Meghan and Nathan Shively.
Mr. Shively and his wife, the former Mary Myers, were married Sept. 8, 1957, at First Evangelical United Brethren Church in Mount Pleasant, Pa. They are members of Bethel Lutheran Church in Boardman.
Mrs. Shively, who graduated from Miss Conley’s Business School in Pittsburgh, is retired after working for Sears & Roebuck in Greensburg, Pa. She is a housewife.
Mr. Shively, a veteran of the Korean War, served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army. He retired in 1992 after working 40 years at Sears & Roebuck.
The Shivelys are both members of the Hammond Organ Society and of the singing group The Notables.
