Received Eagle Award
Joe Illencik has received his Eagle Award, Boy Scouting’s highest honor.
He is a member of Troop 46 in Boardman, and his scoutmaster is Eric Grabman. He is 14 and a freshman at Cardinal Mooney High School.
Joe has been in Scouting for nine years. He has earned 29 merit badges and two religious awards. He also is a member of the Order of the Arrow.
For his Eagle Scout service project, Joe designed and created signs for four Catholic schools belonging to the Mahoning South Catholic Leadership Team — St. Luke, St. Charles, St. Nicholas and Holy Family. The signs are a way to promote awareness of these schools and the parishes’ commitments to a Catholic education.
With the help of Municipal Signs in Columbiana, Joe was able to present each school with a sign to show appreciation and pride for the sacrifices people make to give their children a Catholic education. He received funds for his project from the Knights of Columbus as well as private donations.
He has a sister, Lauren, and his parents are Joe and Sue Illencik.
