Mustangs rally to defeat Bears; New Castle also wins
VIENNA — The Mathews High football team rallied in the second half to edge Leetonia 23-20 Saturday after a power outage Friday suspended the game at halftime.
Brad Hughes scored twice for the Mustangs on runs of 42 and 6 yards in the second half. He finished with 88 yards on 15 carries. Brent Jackson gained 156 yards on 13 carries.
Jake Kruegel gave the Bears a first quarter lead when he scored on a 1-yard run. He returned a punt 86 yards for a TD in the fourth quarter.
Jamie Milson caught a 22-yard touchdown pass from Josh Selway to give the Bears a 13-7 lead at halftime. Selway completed 15 of 24 passes for 199 yards.

BELLE VERNON, Pa. — Joe Perrotta tallied twice on the ground, including a 60-yard fumble return, and Mike Bongivengo scored a touchdown for New Castle (2-0).
Maris Chandler also scored for the winners, who only had a 7-6 lead until rattling off seven third-quarter points and 13 more in the final period.
Perrotta gained 153 yards on 22 carries, while Bongivengo picked up 128 on 12 tries.
