WARREN — Aunre Davis tossed a 25-yard touchdown pass and ran 31 yards for a second touchdown Saturday to lead Warren Harding to a 20-6 victory of over Akron Buchtel.

Mike Dorsey, who alternated at quarterback with Davis, scored the Raiders’ third touchdown on a 1-yard plunge in the fourth quarter.

Dorsey dashed 20 yards to set up his dive into the end zone.

Wide receiver Sergio Allen snagged Davis’s touchdown late in the first second to give Harding (2-1) a 6-0 lead.

Davis led the Raiders in rushing, gaining 81 yards in 13 carries, and completed three of six passes for 97 yards. Dorsey rushed for 67 yards in 19 carries.

Harding’s offense grows

Although sluggish at the start of the game, Harding’s offense racked up 290 yards, including 193 yards rushing.

Harding’s defense stymied Buchtel (0-3), limiting the Griffins to only 23 yards of total offense.

Buchtel scored its only touchdown late in the second quarter, when John Adams picked up a Harding fumble and rambled 81 yards into the end zone. Adams’ touchdown resulted in a 6-6 tie at halftime.

Buchtel didn’t complete a pass and gain a first down until the final minute of the game.

With Harding holding a two-touchdown lead and less than a minute remaining on the clock, Buchtel quarterback Micah Mosley completed three passes to Adams for 20 yards.

The last-minute passes were Mosley’s first completions of the game and earned his team’s initial first down.

But Mosley’s last pass of the game fell incomplete in Harding’s end zone as the clock expired.
