Collision kills Warren woman

MECCA — A 37-year-old Warren woman died in a car accident caused when she turned in front of another vehicle.

A Ohio State Highway Patrol report states Merianne Riley, 37, was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier north on Hoagland-Blackstub Road (Trumbull County Route 203) at 3:05 p.m. Sunday when she turned onto state Route 88 into the path of a 2003 Chevrolet 2500.

That vehicle’s driver was Dan P. Zubko Sr., 51, of Bristolville. Zubko’s vehicle, eastbound on Route 88, collided with Riley’s car.

Riley’s car traveled off the north edge of Route 88, and she was ejected out the front after it hit a building post, the patrol report states.

Zubko’s car also went off the north edge of Route 88 and overturned onto its left side.

Riley was pronounced dead at the St. Joseph Health Center in Warren.

Timothy L. Hopkins, 7, of Bristolville, a passenger in Riley’s vehicle, was injured and taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown. He was listed late Sunday in stable condition.

Zubko was not taken to a hospital.
