Westminster, Pa. 48, St. Vincent 7

LATROBE, Pa. — Nick McKolosky ran for three touchdowns and Kevin Franz threw for two more, to propel Westminster. McKolosky rushed for 143 yards on 25 carries and scored on touchdown runs of 2, 1, and 1 yards. Franz completed 16 of 28 passes for 171 yards. He connected with Chad Rosatelli on a 30-yard scoring pass in the first quarter, then with Brett Ziegler on a 6-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter. Westminster (2-0) also scored on a 1-yard run by Josh Kutzner and a 1-yard run by Jacob Shaffer. St. Vincent is 0-2.

Slippery Rock 21, Millersville 5

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. — Slippery Rock University amassed 458 yards in total offense en route to a win in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference inter-divisional action. Senior quarterback Nate Crookshank completed 15 of 21 passes for 293 yards and three touchdowns to lead The Rock attack. Senior wide receiver Paul Favers was on the receiving end of six Crookshank passes for a career-high 169 yards and two TDs. Junior running back Corey Manfull (United) rushed for 150 yards on 25 carries to lead SRU’s rushing attack. The Rock (2-0) had two potential scoring drives stopped by lost fumbles.

Carnegie Mellon 16, Grove City 6

PITTSBURGH, Pa. — Travis Sivek and David Babcock each ran for a touchdown to help Carnegie Mellon. Sivek scored on a one-yard run in the third quarter and Babcock scored on a 13-yard run in the fourth quarter for the Tartans (2-0). The Tartans also recovered a block punt in the end zone for a safety. Grove City (0-2) scored its only points on Matt Weil’s 1-yard run in the first quarter. Carnegie Mellon rushed for 210 yards.

Alfred 34, Thiel 7

GREENVILLE, Pa. — Paul Keeley threw four touchdown passes to lead Alfred. Keeley completed 19 of 28 passes for 353 yards. He connected with Vinson Hendrix, Trevor Bork, and Matt Gibbins on touchdown passes of 27, 25, and 4 yards in the first quarter, then found Saucobie Riley on a 77-yard scoring pass in the second quarter. Hendrix caught three passes for 109 yards and rushed for 106 yards on 15 carries. Riley caught four passes for 107 yards. Bork caught six passes for 76 yards. Thiel (0-2) scored its only points in the second quarter on a 28-yard touchdown pass from Willie Bova to Marc LaScola (Wellsville). Bova completed 18 of 35 passes for 230 yards. LaScola caught seven passes for 199 yards.

Walsh 12, Seton Hill 10

GREENSBURG, Pa. — Marc Pullen threw for 124 yards and one touchdown pass and Clinton Blossomgame rushed for 136 yards to help Walsh. Pullen completed 8 of 15 passes, including an 8-yard touchdown pass to James Williams in the first quarter. Lambros Paxos kicked field goals of 21 and 26 yards in the second and third quarter for the Cavaliers (1-1.). Antwarn Jones, who rushed for 137 yards, scored one touchdown in the first quarter for the Griffins (0-2.). Walsh had 286 yards of total offense, including 162 yards rushing. Seton Hill had 194 yards of total offense, including 147 yards rushing.

Bethany 24, Hiram 7

HIRAM — Bethany got off to a fast start beginning the game with a 56-yard opening kickoff which led to a 10-yard touchdown completion from Milton Joyner to Brad Zink giving the Bison an early 7-0 lead at the 13:21 minute mark of the first quarter. It was the season opener for each team. Following a scoreless third quarter, Bethany took a commanding 21-0 advantage with a 59-yard TD reception from Joyner to Matt Cruse at the 12:55 minute mark.
