Suspect in killing held in jail

WARREN — A 29-year-old Warren man arrested in Pennsylvania in the death of a city man is in the Trumbull County Jail.

Steven Brown, who listed a Warren address, waived the extradition process and was transferred to the county jail after pleading guilty to two misdemeanor drug charges in Pennsylvania. He was held at the Mercer County Jail for 13 days.

Brown was arrested Aug. 24 at a Hermitage, Pa., motel for the shooting death of Johnny Williamson, 24, at 1535 North Park Ave.

A court date has not been set for a hearing on the murder charge in Warren Municipal Court.

Detective Wayne Mackey said he tipped of Pennyslvania State Police that the suspect was staying at the Starlite Motel in Hermitage and then a special law enforcement team went in the motel room and arrested him.

Mackey said Brown is not willing to cooperate and won’t offer any motives for the case.

Williamson was shot twice at his residence. It is the city’s eighth recorded homicide this year.
