Student hit and killed after getting off bus
DAYTON (AP) — A 17-year-old boy getting off a school bus in front of his home was struck and killed by a speeding car Friday, police said.
The black Mercedes was traveling at least 75 mph in a 45 mph zone when the accident occurred at about 3:15 p.m. on a two-lane road in Jefferson Township near Dayton, police said.
The 37-year-old driver, whose identity was not released, ignored a stop sign that extended from the side of the bus, said Montgomery County chief sheriff’s deputy Phil Plummer.
The victim, Julian Hill, had recently moved to southwest Ohio from Bedford, a suburb of Cleveland. He enrolled at Jefferson High School last week, school officials said.
