O’Briens on scoring end for Brookfield
LaBrae (2-1) bounced back in the second half.
BROOKFIELD — Devin O’Brien ran for one score and passed for another, leading Brookfield High over Jefferson Area, 24-19, in a non-conference game Friday night.
The Warriors (3-0), who play host to Girard in their Trumbull Athletic Conference opener next week, trailed 13-12 early in the fourth quarter, but took control with a 38-yard TD scamper by O’Brien, then a 30-yard scoring run by Mack O’Brien to make it 24-13.
Devin O’Brien finished with 78 rushing yards and completed 2-of-7 passes for 21 yards, while Mack O’Brien had 70 yards on nine carries.
AK Livingston caught three passes for 46 yards and two scores, a 6-yard reception from Devin O’Brien and a 7-yard toss from Dave Nehlen.

LEAVITTSBURG — Cameron Truss raced 36 yards to a touchdown in the third quarter and Colton Hill rambled 60 yards with a fumble recovery in the final period to lead LaBrae’s comeback from a 17-14 deficit.
Hill and Truss both finished with two TDs for the Vikings (2-1), Hill also scoring on a 90-yard kickoff return and Truss on an 11-yard run.
Truss wound up 172 yards rushing in 24 attempts.
Brad Mast scored two TDs for Garfield (1-2) on runs of 29 and 27 yards, and finished with 84 yards rushing in 13 carries.

Conneaut 14
CONNEAUT — Conneaut took a 6-0 lead early in the first quarter, but unbeaten Champion (3-0) answered with a pair of touchdowns, then cruised to the victory.
Kris Wildman rushed for 94 yards on 20 carries, which included TD runs of 8 and 3 yards for the Golden Flashes.
Champion quarterback Joe Cvengros connected on 4-of-7 passes for 55 yards, which included a 12-yard TD strike to Markel Vaughn, who finished with three catches for 46 yards. Cvengros also scored on a 6-yard run.
Calvin Neckel and Joe Teed of Conneaut scored on runs of 1 and 12 yards respectively.
