Collegehumor.com releases frosh survey
NEW YORK CITY — College guidebooks can tell you where the library is or where to find the best off-campus burger, but fail to answer the freshman’s most pressing questions about sex, drugs, drinking and dorm life.
That’s where CollegeHumor.com, the Web site that bills itself as the definitive source for irreverent student humor and co-ed pop culture, comes in.
It has released its first “Freshman Orientation Survey” to better educate incoming freshmen about what it says they can anticipate the first year of their four-year, parent-funded vacation.
CollegeHumor.com polled over 20,000 post-freshman year students around the country to find out what goes on at school.
Some of the survey findings show:
U44 percent of incoming freshmen drank on their first night of college.
UMarijuana was the most popular drug among freshmen, followed by Adderall, a prescription drug commonly used recreationally.
U38 percent of freshman virgins lost their virginity freshman year.
U46 percent of incoming freshmen were virgins.
UGuys were 37 percent more likely than girls to have a fake ID freshman year.
UAverage weight gain for freshman females was 5.44 pounds, 5.94 pounds for males.
U78 percent of men got along with their roommates, compared with only 67 percent of women.
USkipping four or more classes per week lowered the average GPA by 19 percent.
