SCRAPPERS NOTES \ From State College
Duke of Pittsburgh: Pirates pitcher Zach Duke started for the Spikes on Thursday. For Duke, the start was his fourth in the his rehabilitation that hopefully will lead him back into the starting rotation for the Buccos. His first two rehab starts were with the Gulf Coast Pirates before getting the start with the Pirates Class AAA affiliate in Indianapolis. Duke went on the DL on July 1 with tendonitis in his left elbow. Duke was 3-7 with a 5.79 ERA in 17 starts with the Pirates.
Getting the call: When projected Mahoning Valley starter Dan Frega was deemed unavailable due to a blister on a finger, Josh Judy answered the call. Judy has nine appearances with the GCL Indians and three times for the Scrappers. His record is 1-2 with two saves. Judy was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 34th round of the June draft.
Dominance: The Scrappers have a 6-3 mark against the Spikes. At Eastwood Field, Mahoning Valley was a perfect 5-0 against the Pittsburgh farmhands.
