Ex-Judge Cronin refuses sobriety test

CANFIELD — A lawyer representing Maureen A. Cronin, a retired Mahoning County common pleas judge, waived her arraignment on a charge of OVI, operating a vehicle impaired, and entered a not guilty plea on her behalf in Mahoning County Area Court in Canfield on Thursday. Court records show she refused to have her sobriety tested. Judge Scott Hunter granted a motion to temporarily bar release of an Ohio State Highway Patrol videotape of Cronin’s arrest late Wednesday night on state Route 11. In April 2005, Cronin, 54, of Canfield Road pleaded guilty to OVI in Mahoning County Area Court in Boardman. She was sentenced to 180 days in jail, with 177 days suspended and ordered to attend 72 hours driver’s intervention program. She was also placed on one year’s nonreporting probation and fined $250.
