CLUB CALENDAR | Area groups announce activities


ASSOCIATIONS

• Northeast Homeowners and Concerned Citizens Association will hold a planning session for the 2007-08 fiscal year at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Price Memorial AME Zion Church, 920 Dryden Ave., Youngstown. • Yo-Mah-O Chapter of the International Association of Administrative Professionals will meet at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday at Café Capri in Boardman. The program will feature historical anecdotes by Mike LaCivita. Dinner will be a choice of eggplant parmesan for $16.50, broiled haddock for $20.50 or chicken francais for $21. ATHLETIC GROUPS

• McDonald Midget Football Association will meet at 7 p.m. Sunday in the senior citizens room at the post office building.

• McDonald Sideliners meets every Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Blue Devil Room at the high school.

AUXILIARIES

• Auxiliary to VFW 3538, Struthers, will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the post home. Members are to take items for packages that will be sent to male soldiers in Iraq and female soldiers in Turkey. • Girard K. of C. Auxiliary 2935 will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at the club hall. Yearbooks will be distributed, and refreshments will be served.

• The monthly meeting of the St. Anthony’s Auxiliary of Struthers is set for noon Monday at the club hall. Theresa Gabriele, Rosemary Muccillo and Eileen Clemente will serve the luncheon, and Arlene DeChellis update members on the social calendar for the remaining year. A social hour will follow.

• St. Elizabeth Health Center Auxiliary will hold a general membership meeting at noon Monday in the hospital’s private dining room. Lee Meadows of Mended Hearts will speak on “Helping the Heart Heal.”

• Struthers K. of C. Ladies will make a fall table arrangement at a meeting Monday. Marian Jordan and Lola Parenti are hostesses.

CLASSES

CLUBS

• Tuesday’s meeting of Chapter EM of PEO Sisterhood will be a garage sale fundraiser from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 366 Ingram, Boardman. The event is open to the public, and proceeds will be used for the education of women.

FRATERNAL GROUPS

• Campbell Croatian Lodge 185 will meet at 1 p.m. Sunday at DonaVito’s Restaurant, South Bridge Street, Struthers.

• Girard Golden Eagles meet at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Girard Free Library, 105 E. Prospect St.

GUILDS

• Western Reserve Knitting Guild will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the pavilion at Fair Park in Canfield for a covered dish picnic. Members may take yarn to sell at a yarn swap.

LIBRARY FRIENDS

• Friends of the Boardman Library will meet for a social at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Boardman Library’s Community Room. At 10 a.m., a program will be presented by John Dunlap on “Charles Burchfield, Painter.” Guests are welcome; reservations aren’t necessary. Dues of $5 for the year may be collected. Hostesses will be Betty Anzevino, Jan Harper, Romaine Moore and Pat Spisak. Books and tapes for the book cart are collected from 10 a.m. until noon on the first and third Saturday of each month.

RELIGIOUS GROUPS

• Mount Carmel Society of St. Rose Church will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the lower church.

• St. Michael Altar Guild will hold a salad smorgasbord dinner Monday in the parish center. Deacon Tom Soich will give the benediction at 6 p.m., and the program will be presented by Lee Meadows of Mended Hearts, who will discuss “Tips for Healthy Hearts.” Pat Jones will preside. Each member is asked to take a salad that serves 8 to 10 people; the board will provide desserts. Guests are welcome. Hostesses will be Rita Bova, Pat DeRosa, Mary Ann Silvestri, Elaine Boomhower, Pauline Weldon and Dorothy Bellish.

• St. Monica Guild of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Youngstown will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Mary Ann Cardiero will preside, and serving as hostesses will be Dottie Varie, Carol Vechiarelli, Linda Vinion, Cathy Zack and Carol Amicone.

• St. Rose Catholic Women’s Club will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in Rosetta Hall. The meeting will include a tea and distribution of program books.

SERVICE CLUBS

• Girard-Liberty Kiwanis will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at The Golf Dome, 1300 N State St.

SOCIETIES

• Mercer County Historical Society will hold a Civil War Roundtable on Tuesday at its headquarters, 119 S. Pitt St., in Mercer, Pa. The group will plan events and discussions for the 2007-08 season. Bill Philson will lead a discussion on views of life, love and sex in the North and South. • Alzheimer’s Assistance and Referral Network, 4212 Market St., Boardman, will sponsor the following support groups this week.
