Scouting report: Geneva is coming off a 20-3 win over Thiel last week in its first game as a PAC and NCAA Division III member. The Golden Tornadoes will be facing W&J for the first time since 1985. Freshman RB Gerard Muschette rushed for 77 yards in 11 carries and caught two passes for 45 yards to lead Geneva past Thiel, while sophomore DE Brian Wilson had 10 tackles, seven for losses.

Scouting report: Westminster’s defense preserved last week’s 13-6 win over Allegheny as CBs Mario Camerota and Eric Brown broke up passes in the end zone on third and fourth downs with about two minutes left. Senior QB Brett Myers, making his third career start, passed for a career-high 228 yards on 23-for-33 for the Titans. Sophomore K Fred Romeo (Lowellville) of Westminster kicked two field goals, including a career-long 30-yard thump, and was named PAC Special Teams Player of the Week.

Scouting report: Grove City lost to Dickinson last Saturday, 17-13, while Carnegie Mellon rolled over Rochester, 33-10, for its 11th straight regular-season win. Grove City QB Andrew DiDonato passed for 252 yards to seven different receivers against Dickinson. The 252 yards were the ninth-highest, single-game showing in school history.

Scouting report: Bethany has 19 starters and 36 lettermen back from last year’s team that went 4-6, including 2-4 in the PAC. Hiram returns 15 starters and 29 letterman from last year’s team that went 0-10, including 0-7 in the NCAC. Bob Wolfe, who formerly coached at Warren Harding, is in his first year at the Terriers’ helm. Mike Paes (New Middletown⁄Springfield) is a junior FB for Hiram. Bethany returns two area players, sophomore WR John Falconi (Farrell) and sophomore FB Trevor Litz.

Scouting report: Junior RB Corey Manfull (United), who sat out the entire 2006 season with a hand injury, celebrated his return to action with a career-high 145 yards rushing on 25 carries and four TDs in Slippery Rock’s 51-24 win over Seton Hill last Thursday. Millersville lost its opener Aug. 25 to Shepherd, 36-7.

Scouting report: Walsh will try to recover from its worst loss in school history last week, 49-7, to West Liberty State as the Cavaliers launched their 13th season. It was Walsh’s fourth straight floss extending back to last season. The Cavaliers also lost senior tailback Antwain Reine’ for the season when he suffered a broken right leg early in the third quarter. Walsh managed only 219 total yards while yielding West Liberty State 612 yards. Seton Hill dropped a 51-24 decision to Slippery Rock in its season opener last Thursday.

Scouting report: Malone survived six turnovers and a pair of late Trinity International scoring drives to win last week’s season opener, 32-27. DBs, Kenny Williams and Dennis Thornton, delivered back-to-back pass breakups at the goal line with less than 10 seconds left to preserve the Pioneers’ win. QBs Billy Bob Orsagh and Dominic Liberati split time for Malone. Orsagh hit on 13 of 24 passes for 135 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. Liberati was six of 13 passing for 50 yards with one interception. WR Derek Deardorff had four receptions for 35 yards while WR Josh Settlemire (Howland) had three catches for a team-high 45 yards. RB Bernard Payton had 133 yards rushing on 28 attempts to go with four catches for 35 yards and two touchdowns (one rushing, one receiving).
