Doctor loses license for improper touching
MEADVILLE, Pa. (AP) — A Crawford County doctor has been sentenced to three months in jail after pleading no contest to indecently assaulting three patients.
Prosecutor Paula DiGiacomo says Khanh Nguyen Vu, of Titusville, inappropriately touched female patients between summer 2004 and January 2006. Vu was also placed on house arrest for six months and fined $1,000.
In exchange for Vu’s plea Wednesday, prosecutors dropped 19 counts of harassment by physical contact and nine counts of indecent assault. DiGiacomo says in all, Vu took advantage of 13 women.
Vu says the legal proceedings have been difficult for him, his former patients, friends and family and he hopes the plea will bring closure.
Vu has also surrendered his medical license.
