Snyder scores three times in Ursuline’s victory


Kelly Storkel and Becky Hanna each had two goals in Poland’s 5-0 win.

CORTLAND — Hannah Snyder had three goals and three assists, Katelyn Tondo-Steele two goals and three assists and Katie Young two goals to lead Ursuline High’s girls soccer team to a 10-3 victory over Maplewood Tuesday.

Kaila Buckley contributed one goal and one assist for the Irish, while Kelsey Price and Rena Hinebaugh added one goal apiece.

Ursuline goalies Teresa Carkido and Nikka Bonamase had two saves and one save, respectively.

For Maplewood (0-4), Tori Spencer had three goals and Erica Pinko two assists while goalies Emily Paris and Ellie Engstrom had 24 and eight saves, respectively.

Warren Harding 3, Liberty 0

WARREN — Rachel Lamarco of the Raiders (4-1-0) scored two goals and had an assist. Jessica Yuricek scored the other goal.

Erin Boyles, goalie, had four saves for Harding. Elysam Raib had 11 saves for the Leopards (0-4) in the first half and Rebbeca House had 10 saves in the second half.

Howland 5, North Allegheny 2

HOWLAND — Gina Albani scored two goals for Springfield (1-0-2). Megan Long, Alexa Williams and Deja Amato each had a goal.

Sara Ward, Carman Alberini, Jessica Wilson and Amato had an assist apiece.

Jourdan Spence and Taylor Gatczynski scored a goal each for North Allegheny (1-2).

Howland had nine shots on goal and North Allegheny two. Rachel Middleman had four saves.

Poland 5, Hubbard 0

HUBBARD — Kelly Storkel and Becky Hanna each scored two goals for the Bulldogs (1-0). Katie Hiznay added the other goal.

Sam Robertson, Taylor Marucci, Pam Shure and Storkel had an assist apiece for the Bulldogs.

Poland had 25 shots on goal and Hubbard three.

Miriah Gordan, goalie, had 15 saves for the Eagles (2-3).

JVs: Poland 9-2.

Niles 5, Champion 1

CHAMPION — Megan McDermott, Rachel Roberts, Marissa Gargano, Shaina Cowell and Carly Cicero each scored a goal for the Red Dragons (1-0-2). Aliesha Sharpe and Tricia Clay had an assist apiece.

Erika Stevens of Champion (1-3) scored a goal on an assist from Brittany Wortman.

Warren JFK 7, Girard 0

GIRARD — Erin McBride and Jerrica Copper each scored two goals for the Eagles (3-0). Katie Rodomsky, Kellie Kovac and Gina Gelsomino added a goal apiece.

McBride had four assists and Mel Esposito one for the Eagles.

Helena Democopolous had three saves for JFK, while Melisa Weitzman had 21 for the Indians (1-3).

Crestview 2, United 1

NEW WATERFORD — The Rebels (1-3, 1-0 ITCL) scored both goals in the first half and they were by Olivia Gamble and Amanda Kissinger and both girls also had an assist.

Jenna Greene scored the only goal for the Golden Eagles.

Crestview had 14 shots on goal and United four.

Youngstown Christian 3,
Conneaut 2

CONNEAUT — Kara Cooper scored two goals, including the game-winner late in the second half, and her younger sister Kristi added a goal and an assist to lead Youngstown Christian, which improved to 3-0 for the first time in school history.

Devanie Womack had nine saves for the Eagles.

Christie Church and Denielle Anderson scored for Conneaut (1-4).

Boys

POLAND — Alan Gavloas, Ryan Storkel, Brian Witt, Ryan Rovnak and Blake Rhein scored a goal apiece for Poland (3-1-0, 3-0 MAC) in a 5-0 victory over Salem.

Witt, Rhein and Taylor Malaniak each had assist.

Poland had 14 shots on goal and Salem six.

Rick Samu, goalie, had nine saves for the Quakers (1-3-0, 0-2). Andrew McElroy had six saves for the Bulldogs.

Heartland Christian 5,
Lake Center 1

HARTVILLE — Kyle Knepper scored two goals for the Lions (5-1). Treg Lunder scored a goal and had two assists, while Aaron Shields and Allen Wei each had a goal.

The Lions had 16 shots on goal and Lake Center had 31.

The Lions’ Shields had 12 saves in the first half, while Tyler Burgess had six. Nate Hall had 25 defensive stops.
