Warren students treated after bus crash

WARREN — Eight students were taken to St. Joseph Health Center for treatment after their bus was hit by a van at about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, at the intersection of Atlantic and Prospect Streets N.W.

Police said they did not know if any of the Harding High School students on the Warren City Schools bus were seriously injured. Ten students were on the bus at the time of the crash, the first day of school.

Police said the van driver, Gary Breen, 53, of Youngstown, went through a stop sign traveling north on Prospect and hit the bus, which was westbound on Atlantic. Breen was charged with failure to stop at a stop sign. It was not immediately known if Breen or the driver of the bus, Virginia Penn of Warren, were injured.
