Housing code violation
Housing code violation
YOUNGSTOWN — A Bryson Street man was issued a summons for a city housing code violation and ordered to leave his home until it is cleaned and repaired. Police said Keith Davis, 45, and his two young children were living in the home that had no water service since 2005. Davis told police he was working full time and trying to save enough money to get the water service restored, but could not pay the $1,000 balance on his bill. Police said the house was in deplorable condition with garbage throughout. The living room ceiling was falling in, and Davis had pinned a tarp to the ceiling to slow the pieces from falling. Bryson told police his electric service was also shut off and he had extension cords running from neighbors homes to run the television, VCR and lights. There was no refrigerator, food was being kept in a dirty cooler and the stove had dried and crusty food stuck to it, police said. Davis told police he collected rainwater and used it to flush his toilet. Davis was issued the summons, and he and the children were told they could not live in the house. Davis will have a court hearing on the matter Wednesday.
