Computer glitch displaces 400 at horseshoe
COLUMBUS (AP) — A computer glitch caused a ticket mix-up that displaced about 400 Ohio State fans who had arrived to watch the Buckeyes take on Youngstown State, but instead found the OSU alumni band already in the same seats, university officials said.
Officials told the miffed fans on Saturday that they’d have to wait in a line for a seat reassignment or a refund.
Alumna Laura Dawson and her husband said they’d arranged for child care and bought $22.50 in soda and food before they realized their seats were taken. The couple waited in line through the game’s first quarter to get a refund, she said.
“It’s not the end of the world, but this university’s not taking care of their alumni like they used to,” Dawson said.
Most who waited in the line at the stadium Saturday took reassigned seats, while others opted for a refund or tickets to next Saturday’s game against Akron, said Bill Jones, assistant athletics director for ticketing.
Seats at the Akron game were available for about 200 of the disrupted Ohio State fans because Akron had returned a block of unsold tickets, he said.
