Aug. 28

Domestic violence: Police charged a 16-year-old Melrose Avenue boy after his mother alleged the teen assaulted her at their residence. The mother was not injured.

Criminal mischief: Someone drove through several yards, knocking over garbage cans, on or near Walnut Street.

Theft: Ten articles of clothing valued at a total of $424 were stolen from the J.C. Penney store in the Southern Park Mall.

Theft: A Salem man at the Southern Park Mall reported the theft of $30, a draw-string bag, miscellaneous personal papers and other items.

Breaking and entering: Someone climbed over a fence at R&J Trucking, 8063 Southern Blvd., before removing two aluminum radiators and an undisclosed number of copper parts.

Theft: A worker with DFK Fabrications, Inc., 637 Bev Road, reported $1,500 worth of metal carts and an undetermined amount of steel stolen.

Robbery: A Mathews Road man told officers he was robbed of $200 and a cell phone at his home.

Theft: A Youngstown woman, 38, faced charges of theft and resisting arrest after being accused of taking 17 polo-style shirts, three pairs of slacks, a haircutting set and a bottle of perfume from Sears in the Southern Park Mall.

Theft: A motorist pumped and failed to pay for $25 worth of gasoline before leaving a Get-Go station, 6911 South Ave.

Theft: An Orlo Lane woman reported her two vehicles had been entered and that loose change and receipts were taken.

Theft: An undisclosed amount of money was removed from a change machine at Super Subers Car Care Center, 4030 South Ave.

Theft: A man visiting his sister at her Shields Road residence reported a tire and rim stolen.

Vandalism: Someone broke a window at Tina’s Dance Studio, 6540 Market St., causing $1,000 damage.

Criminal damaging: A Walnut Street woman reported $200 damage was done to her concrete mailbox.

Theft: A Texas man reported a laptop computer, two compact discs and a cell phone stolen while in the 6500 block of Market Street.

Theft/criminal damaging: A Southern Boulevard woman reported two hubcaps stolen off her vehicle, as well as a scratch to its front fender.

Theft: A license plate was removed from a car in the 7000 block of West Boulevard.

Theft: A woman took $20 worth of clothing from Dollar General, 859 E. Midlothian Blvd.

Theft: Two purses worth a total of $590 were stolen from Macy’s in the Southern Park Mall.

Theft/criminal damaging: A vent window was broken on a West Boulevard man’s vehicle. Stolen were an in-dash CD player and three packs of cigarettes.

Arrest: Niles police handed a 37-year-old Youngstown man to Boardman authorities. He was wanted on warrants from the township charging him with six counts of criminal damaging and one count of theft related to an April incident in which a Boardman woman’s car was broken into and her credit card stolen.

Bad check: An Austintown man, 35, was taken into custody at the Mahoning County Jail on a warrant charging him with passing a bad check. The suspect was accused of renting a lawn mower from Rental Corral, 4627 Market St., and using a bad $332.32 check.

Theft: Police arrested a 36-year-old Youngstown woman on a theft charge after two pairs of jeans were stolen from Kohl’s, 383 Boardman-Poland Road. The theft came to $60.

Aug. 29

Auto theft: A West Boulevard man reported his 1998 Acura missing.

Assault: A South Schenley Avenue woman told police her 4-year-old daughter was assaulted. The girl had no visible injuries.

Theft/criminal mischief: A Hitchcock Road woman found out a door was torn off her mailbox and that a U.S. flag was taken from her porch.

Theft: An Edinburg, Pa., woman reported a $2,000 wedding ring stolen while in the 5600 block of Market Street.

Theft/criminal mischief: A man called police after someone tore off doors from six mailboxes, took a slat to a vinyl fence, removed two flower boxes and destroyed a ceramic lawn ornament at a Hitchcock Road condominium association. Other nearby damage included a broken sewer grate.

Criminal mischief: A Garden Gate Court man found a broken lawn ornament as well as a shredded soccer net in his backyard.

Theft/criminal damaging: A man in the 500 block of Boardman-Canfield Road reported a car break-in, and that two 12-inch speakers, two amplifiers, a stereo and 750 CDs were stolen.

Theft: A Boardman woman in the 7000 block of Market Street discovered the theft of a $1,500 engagement ring.

Theft/forgery: An Austintown man noticed $545 had been stolen from his savings account at a Boardman bank.

Criminal damaging: A Spartan Drive man found a concrete statue broken on his driveway.

Theft/forgery: A Cook Avenue woman called authorities after discovering a check had been stolen and cashed for $1,175.

Criminal damaging: A Walker Mill Road man reported someone shot a BB gun and damaged his vehicle's rear window and door, causing damage estimated at $350.

Drug paraphernalia: While responding to possible gunfire near Mathews Road, police arrested a 19-year-old Boardman man wanted on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Theft: A 45-year-old former employee of Wal-Mart, 1300 Doral Drive, faced a felony theft charge after police said she admitted stealing $600 from the business.

Theft: A Youngstown woman, 24, was charged after five clothing items valued at a total of $203 were taken from Kohl’s.

Theft: Two 13-year-old girls and a girl, 14, all of Youngstown, were charged. The three were accused of stealing 11 pieces of merchandise from Kohl’s, costing the store $330.

Criminal mischief: A Sigle Lane man noticed someone let the air out of two of his car's tires.

Theft/criminal mischief: A Boardman-Canfield man reported his car was entered before two in-dash CD players, a loaded .357-caliber firearm and 250 CDs were removed.

Theft: A CD player and 30 CDs were stolen from a vehicle in the 500 block of Boardman-Canfield Road.

Criminal mischief: Two Gardenview Drive residents reported incidents. One woman discovered five slats had been removed from her fence; another woman found out someone tampered with her swimming pool’s pump and filter, flooding her back yard.

Aug. 30

Theft: A driver pumped $20 worth of gasoline and left a BP station, 1090 Boardman-Poland Road, without paying.

Theft: A handicap placard was stolen from a vehicle at a motel on Tiffany Boulevard.

Criminal damaging: Someone tossed a rock and broke a window at The Sandwich Factory, 6128 Market St.

Vandalism: An employee with Zimmer’s Duplicating Products, 5411 Market St., discovered a brick was thrown through a double-pane window.

Arrest: While responding to an underage drinking party at a Pinehill Drive residence, officers charged a girl, 16, and a boy, 17, both of Poland, with underage consumption of alcohol.

Theft: A license plate was stolen off a vehicle in the 4000 block of South Avenue.

Theft: Someone pumped $30 of gasoline at a Shell True North station, 7598 Market St., and drove off without paying.

Misuse of a credit card: A Youngstown woman told authorities her credit card was stolen at the Southern Park Mall and used at various township locations.

Aug. 31

Theft: A $500 newspaper box was stolen in the 800 block of East Midlothian Boulevard.

Robbery: Three people told police they were robbed of money near Shields Road and Lemans Drive, and one victim reported being pushed to the ground.

Criminal damaging: A worker for Arris Gallery & Framery, 7807 Market St., found two display windows had been shattered.
