XLIBERTY TOWNSHIP — Nuptial vows were exchanged by Valerie Elaine Thompson, 4006 Monticello Blvd., and Michael Mathas Carter, 222 Sixth St., Campbell, as they were united in marriage at 6 p.m. Aug. 26 during private ceremony in Liberty Township officiated by Elder Rosette Carter, cousin of the groom.

The bride is a daughter of the late Charlotte L. (Young) Daniel and Eugene Thompson, and the groom’s parents are the late Joseph and Dorothy (Queener) Carter.

Invitations will be issued for a reception to be held at a later date.

After their honeymoon at a resort, they will live in Campbell.

Alicia Jackson of Youngstown was the honor attendant for her cousin.

The groom’s cousin, Robert Carter of Warren, performed the duties as best man.

The bride, who attended Youngstown State University, is a loan processor with Valued Services Inc. in Niles and a financial secretary with Friendship Baptist Church of Girard.

The groom served from 1980 to 1995 with the U.S. Army Reserves 645th GS Supply Company. He received an associate degree in applied science and a bachelor’s degree in education from YSU, where he is employed in the athletic department and is pursuing a master’s degree as a reading specialist. He is a also substitute teacher in Ohio and a trustee at Mount Zion Baptist Church.

The couple will continue their work as volunteers for Tod Children’s Miracle Network throughout the country.
