Series of events planned to mark Flitcraft 50th


XPOLAND — A family dinner was held Aug. 25 at the 356th Fighter Group in North Canton as the first in a series of events planned in celebration of the 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Flitcraft, 101 Springfield Ridge.

In the fall, the anniversary will be observed during a family weekend at Harbor Springs in Michigan, and in October, a cruise to the Mexican Riviera will complete the celebration.

Holy Trinity Romanian Orthodox Church in Youngstown was the setting Aug. 25, 1957, as the former Lovetta Heberling and Mr. Flitcraft were united in marriage. They are members of Zion Lutheran Church in New Middletown.

Their family includes Anna Marie and Rodney Knight of New Middletown, Carlynn and John Booth of Harbor Springs, Mich., two grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Flitcraft was a self-employed hairdresser for 21 years in New Middletown.

Mr. Flitcraft was employed by Springfield Local Board of Education as a high-school teacher, coach and principal in New Middletown prior to retiring in 1989. He served from 1965 to 1975 as mayor of New Middletown, where he was also a volunteer fire chief and paramedic, he is currently the chief fiscal officer for New Middletown Village.

The couple were the owners of Pizza Joe’s in New Middletown from 1987 to 2000.
