Accent Media moves
into downtown building

YOUNGSTOWN — Accent Media has moved into 20 Federal Place, the former Phar-Mor Centre, downtown. The company had been located in Howland.

Accent Media is occupying a former production studio that Phar-Mor operated on the seventh floor. The space includes a 2,500-square-foot office and shooting studio and an adjacent space with 2,000 square feet that the company can expand into later.

Accent Media provides production services such as television commercials, training videos and demonstration videos for consumer products.

Open house set
at reiki healing center

HOWLAND — An open house will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Across the Rainbow, which recently opened at the Howland Shopping Plaza at 120 Niles-Cortland Road.

Mary Ellen Dorbish, a registered reiki master practitioner, offers reiki treatment. Reiki is a healing technique that involves laying on of hands and is based on the Usui system of natural healing. Dorbish said the treatment reduces stress and can help people who suffer from chronic headaches, insomnia and fatigue.

New store buys, sells
used children’s items

BOARDMAN — Once Upon a Child, which buys and sells used children’s items, has opened at 7334 Market St. The owner is Kelly Craig.

“Children are constantly outgrowing their clothes, toys, books, furniture and equipment. The dilemma is what to do with all that stuff,” Craig said. “We have come up with a solution for the Boardman community by providing a resource for them to bring their kids’ stuff in and receive cash in exchange.”

Items accepted include clothes, furniture, toys, books and equipment such as strollers.

Once Upon A Child is franchised by Winmark Corp. of Minneapolis, which operates more than 200 stores in North America.

Builders Association
launches Web site

VIENNA — The Builders Association of Eastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania has created a Web site that’s designed to be an online resource for finding contractors. The site at www.TheBuildersOnline.com provides data about area contractors and information about a career in the construction industry.

Members of The Builders also have their own section to review wage rates, workers’ compensation information and training for safety.

Meridian Services plans
3rd annual awards

YOUNGSTOWN — Meridian Services will hold its third annual community awards event, the Valley Impact Awards, Oct. 9 at Stambaugh Auditorium.

Nominations are being accepted for the Behind The Faces of Recovery and Collaboration in Action awards, community awards that recognize businesses or individuals who have made a difference in the lives of those suffering from the effects of addiction, mental illness and its related issues.

Other awards to be presented are the Excellence in Service Award and the Valley Leadership Award.

The keynote speaker is Dr. Lonise Bias, an anti-substance abuse advocate. She is the mother of the late Len Bias, the University of Maryland basketball player who died of drug-related causes two days after being drafted by the Boston Celtics.
