Norma Watson, Jim Tressel’s mother-in-law, takes the diplomatic approach when it comes to the game.

“I’m going to cheer for both teams,” she said before the kickoff.

While her heart is with Youngstown State University, Watson of Canfield said she has to support Ohio State too.

“I have to stay on the good side of my son-in-law,” she joked while tailgating with Rocco Fumi of Canfield and dozens of others.

Fumi’s tailgating party is well-known among OSU fans from the Youngstown area.

“It’s easy to find his tent because of all the people around it,” Watson said.

Fumi, an OSU graduate, has attended all but one Buckeye home football game in the past 45 years.

“It’s always a good atmosphere here,” he said.
