YSU/OSU Live | Morning McFlurry in Columbus
YSU at OSU
Good morning, Youngstown.
If you’re like me, you woke up at 6:30 a.m. after getting 3 1/2 hours of sleep due to a combination of high school football coverage, a whining cat with a death wish and an early-morning wake-up call that allowed you to drive to Columbus at an ungodly hour.
If you’re not like me, it’s safe to say you’re not an idiot.
On my way here, I passed a runner who was working in a few miles at 7 a.m. Which leads to our first discussion question: Should people who wake up at 7 a.m. to go running be shot, or what?
I’ve covered at least a dozen Ohio State games over the past three or four years and the traffic today in Columbus was easily the worst. I’m not sure if it’s because it’s the opener or because everyone in Youngstown decided to come tailgate, but it took at least 35 minutes to get from a mile outside the stadium to the press parking lot. And this was at 9:30 a.m.!
Normally, you’re better off watching it at home on TV. Oh, wait.
The good news is, the new Ohio Stadium field looks nice (the Buckeyes installed Field Turf in the offseason, the same surface used at Stambaugh Stadium), the weather is fantastic and they’re giving away free Oreo McFlurries in the press box.
Who needs sleep?
We’ll have updates all game long for those of you who don’t have Direct TV, a radio or a ticket. And in less than an hour, you’ll get predictions from me (Joe Scalzo) and Pete Mollica. Stay tuned.
