Salem man held in Fla. slaying
LISBON — A Salem man is to remain in the Columbiana County Jail until Florida authorities provide paperwork to extradite him.
Judge Mark Frost of Columbiana County Municipal Court has ruled that Jessy Castelucci, 25, can be held without bond, Ryan Weikart, assistant county prosecutor, said Friday.
Castelucci is charged with premeditated first-degree murder in the shooting of Davronjon Bakeev, 29, in Muse, Fla., in 2002.
Bakeev’s wife, Hadassah Bakeev, 31, and her sister, Tabitha Labay, 33, both of Muse, Fla., are each charged with one count of premeditated murder.
A hearing on the case was set for 1 p.m. Sept. 25 before Judge Frost.
Weikart said that under state law, people facing extradition who face capital punishment or life in prison can be held without bond.
Weikart said the date was set to allow Florida authorities time to submit the extradition paperwork. If the paperwork does not arrive by the hearing, the county can have another hearing on whether to continue to hold Castelucci.
