McDonald belts Windham


Devin O’Brien had a part in two touchdowns as Brookfield blanked Jackson-Milton, 23-0.

WINDHAM — Alex Sampson rushed for 102 yards and scored three touchdowns Friday as the McDonald High football team walloped Windham, 48-6.

Blue Devils (2-0) quarterback Matt Krumpak completed five of 10 passes for 113 yards and two touchdowns.

Mike Thomas caught a 27-yard scoring toss while Kirk Manossky hauled in a 30-yard pass for six points. Manossky caught three passes for 74 yards.

For the Bombers (1-1), Jay Lugo rushed 17 times for 113 yards.

In rushing, McDonald outgained Windham, 354-178.

Brookfield 23,
Jackson-Milton 0

NORTH JACKSON — Devin O’Brien ran for one touchdown and connected with wideout A.K. Livingston for a 70-yard score to lead Brookfield in a non-league game.

O’Brien finished with 74 yards passing and 40 yards rushing, while Mack O’Brien (who was returning from a pancreas injury) had 88 yards rushing and a TD for the Warriors (1-1).

Dave Nehlen added an interception on defense.

Joe Skaggs led Jackson-Milton (0-2) with 28 yards rushing.

Western Reserve 38,
Newcomerstown 14

NEWCOMERSTOWN — Jason Lude carried 12 times for 157 yards and two touchdowns to lead Reserve (1-1) in a non-league game.

Paul Arditi added 71 yards on nine carries for the Blue Devils. Quarterback Shane Ewing completed 14 of 23 passes for 208 yards and a touchdown. Clayton Hull hauled in eight passes for 138 yards while Matt Kalbfell had four catches for 51 yards.

Justin Stoffer carried 22 times for 177 yards and a TD to lead the Trojans (0-2).

Woodridge 49,
Lowellville 14

LOWELLVILLE — The Rockets (0-2) were on the verge of pitching a first-half shutout until Jeff McCoy caught a 5-yard from Dave Krusinski as time expired.

That touchdown tied the game at 7-7. The Bulldogs (1-1) scored the next five touchdowns for a 42-7 lead in the fourth quarter.

Krusinski scored on an 8-yard run and hit Jon Robinson with a 38-yard scoring toss.

Joey DePasquale’s 1-yard run late in the first quarter put the Rockets ahead for the first time this season. Their other score came when John Wellendorf caught a 14-yard pass from David Minnie.

DePasquale led Lowellville’s offense with 80 yards on 24 carries. Minnie completed four of 13 tosses for 97 yards. Anthony Schiraldi caught two of them for 80 yards.

Wellsville 0

TORONTO — Brandon Hunber scored on a pair of 1-yard runs and he gained 104 yards on 30 attempts in leading Toronto to victory.

Zach Stewart’s 4-yard run in the first quarter put Toronto ahead.

Wellsville (1-1) was held to 60 rushing and 45 passing.
