Police capture barricaded man

BOARDMAN — Police and members of the U.S. Marshals Task Force forced their way into a Bob-O-Link Drive house when the resident barricaded himself in the attic.

Danny Caracozza 35, was charged with receiving stolen property. He was lodged in the Mahoning County Jail with a preliminary hearing set for Tuesday.

A resident of the same street reported her home burglarized Saturday. A television, lamp, DVD/VCR player and stereo equipment and the respective user manuals were taken.

Sgt. Glen Riddle said that Caracozza is believed to have sold the items that had been reported stolen, to another individual who turned them in to police.

Police said that residents of the neighborhood told them that Caracozza had stripped the aluminum siding and downspouts off of his own house and sold it.

On Monday afternoon, police and task force members went to Caracozza’s house to arrest him on a warrant. He wouldn’t answer the door so they forced their way in. Caracozza had barricaded himself in the attic, and officers used pepper spray to take him into custody.
