OCCHA fund-raising dinner is Friday

BOARDMAN — The Organizacion Civica Cultural Hispana Americana celebrates its 35th anniversary with a fund-raising dinner Friday at Mr. Anthony’s Banquet Center, South Avenue.

The event begins with a social hour at 5:30 p.m. with dinner served at 6:30 p.m. Tickets cost $40 per person. About 500 people are expected to attend.

OCCHA was established in March 1972 as a nonprofit organization with its main goals to identify problems in the Hispanic community and to establish programs that would address those problems. Benito Velazquez Jr. is OCCHA board president, and Mary Isa Garayua is executive director.
