Threat closes Niles high school for a second consecutive day

NILES — Niles McKinley High School students were to be discharged early today because of a threat to harm everyone inside the school.

Schools Superintendent Rocco Adduci told about 100 parents at about 1:30 p.m. that the students would be released an hour before the regular dismissal time. Students inside were telling their parents by cell phone that the threat was written on a restroom wall.

This is the second consecutive day that the school was locked down because of a threat. A freshman student was charged with inducing panic Monday after a threatening note was traced to him through handwriting analysis.
