Kidskate lesson program expands to New Castle


NEW CASTLE — Kidskate, the group ice-skating lesson program operating at the Chevrolet Centre, is expanding its programs to the Hess Ice Rink on Mitchell Road. The six-week series of group classes is scheduled to begin today and will continue Nov. 6, 13, 27, and Dec. 4 and 11.

Classes are available for all skill levels and all ages. Beginner level preschool classes will meet from 6 to 6:30 p.m.; basic skill levels, 1 to 4 p.m.; hockey and adults, 6 to 7 p.m.; and advanced free skate and basic skills levels 5 to 8, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The full one-hour group class includes supervised practice, skate rental, awards and certificates, official membership card, official U.S. basic skills member patch and a basic skills record book for new skaters.

Advanced skaters in basic levels 5 to 8 or free skate will be introduced to the U.S. Figure Skating Bridge Program with extended class time on full ice and focus on topics including artistry, ice dancing, moves in the field and program presentation.

Cost of the program is $35 for preschool; $70 for beginner basic skills levels 1 to 4, hockey and adults; and $80 for basic skills levels 5 to 8 and advanced free skate.
